It’s cool how the official video of “For The Night” moves from an indoor rehearsal situation to an outdoor on-stage situation. Chlöe is clever to show off both singing and dancing skills in one clip – a vid she directed herself. Then again, the R&B upstart has always made smart moves. Choosing and writing great material when she was part of a high-vis duo, and continuing that commitment with a string of impressive tracks and vids such as this year’s “Surprise,” “Treat Me,” and “Have Mercy.” With each new offering, the singer’s vocals become more impressive. “For The Night” has no-nonsense vibe that mixes sensuality and confidence – a heady blend that lets fans know that at this point, their girl is wise woman. She’s said she wrote the song for her one-time collaborator and former beau Gunna. The emotions crackling through the piece come from real-deal feels. Those vibes are right up front in our studio performance as well. It was great to see an inspired pro like Chlöe throwin’ down in such an intimate setting.
